   Certificate in Hairstyling (Leading to City & Guilds Certificate)



This course is an excellent way to ensure your career in this industry gets off to a head start. The focus of this course is on the skills of shampoo and blow style, cutting, perming and colouring, combined with the technical know-how to put it all together.

The Certificate course comprises of 4 modules, focusing mainly on commercial techniques and basic hairstyling skills. You will graduate with the necessary technical and commercial skills to take your place in the work force.

Early into the course you begin supervised practice with live models, applying what you have learnt in a fully equipped salon-school environment. At Kimage, we place a high priority on training, both comprehensively and professionally. Thus, we believe in deploying only full-time qualified staff for teaching purposes. Our Student Teacher ratio is well below the industry standard at 1:12.

Course commence first Monday of every month.

Entry Requirement

Course participants should be at least 16 years old of age and must possess PSLE pass in English or Chinese or its equivalent.

Graduation Requirement

Student must complete all 4 modules with at least 80% in attendance for each module.

International Students

International students must apply for 2 months student pass and 1 month training pass for this course. Prevailing Training Pass Levy applies ($450 per month, correct as at 1st July 2010).

For International Students on student pass, in the event that any of the following occurs, the school will inform ICA of the student's attendance:

  • the student has failed to attend classes for a continuous period of 7
    days or more without any valid reason; or
  • the student has not attended classes regularly, i.e. where the percent
    age of attendance is 90% or lower in any month of the course without
    any valid reason.
  • the student’s studies in the school has been terminated.

Course Awards

Upon meeting all Graduation Requirements, you will graduate with a Certificate in Hairstyling by Kimage Hairdressing School.

Upon passing the City & Guilds Examinations, you will receive the Certificate Awards in Hairdressing (English) 1122 or the Certificate Awards in Hairdressing (Chinese) 8122 by City & Guilds depending on the medium of paper which you sit for.

360 hours

Duration of Course

  • Full Time – 3 months
  • Part Time – 6 months

Mode of study

  • Full Time Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm
  • Part Time Monday to Friday
    10am to 1pm / 2pm to 5pm / 6pm to 9pm (choice of sessions)

    • Second Payment (7 days before the second month) - $1712.00 (incl 7% GST)
  • Part Time:

    • Second Payment (7 days before the third month) - $1712.00 (incl 7% GST)
